If you work in the voluntary sector, chances are you’re concerned with shaping a better world. Every charity plays a part in this, and I want to help yours do its best work. I particularly enjoy using my skills on projects involving writing, research and strategy. Most commonly, I can be found helping organisations get the most out of their trust fundraising programmes.
With more than a decade of experience in fundraising and communications, grants-based fundraising remains my speciality, though I can also advise on individual giving and the Donorflex database system. I’ve learned what makes a good fundraising toolkit through on-the-job experience, including developing relationships with decision-makers, taking up training opportunities and working across organisations on core income initiatives and capital projects.
I am originally from the United States, but much of my working life has been spent in the United Kingdom. I have a BA (Hons) in Cross-linguistics and a PGCert in Consciousness & Transpersonal Psychology. I’m also a Full Member (MInstF) of the Institute of Fundraising (IoF), which means I’ve completed a vetting process and am bound by the Institute’s Code of Fundraising Practice, a guide to standards in ethics and practice for the fundraising profession. After a number of years on the IoF’s West Midlands regional committee, I’m now volunteering as Events Speaker Liaison for its Trusts and Statutory Special Interest Group.
